Lindt Strawberries & Cream Lindor review

Lindt is one of the most luxurious brands of chocolate there is and it's a personal favourite of mine. This time of year, the strawberries and cream version of the Lindor truffles start to appear on shelves and as a massive lover of white chocolate (and anything sweet), it's fair to say that I get a little excited.

I bought the taster pack which only contains four chocolates in an attempt not to over-indulge. Each chocolate is individually wrapped and on opening the wrapper there was a sweet strawberry smell. There was a white chocolate shell with a rosy tinge and flecks of pink throughout.

I bit through and this revealed a pale pink mousse like truffle on the inside. The flavour was delicious. It was more of a strawberry milkshake flavour than I was expecting and is definitely for those of us with a very sweet tooth and in fact I don't think I could eat a lot of these in one sitting as they were so rich but I would certainly give it a good go.

Yet again Lindt have outdone themselves with these delicious, sweet little truffles ans I will be stocking up on these while they are around. The white chocolate was as creamy as ever and the addition of the sweetness of the strawberry was a welcomed addition to the already impressive range.

Special K Super Porridge 5 grains (Raspberry, Pomegrante & Pumpkin Seeds) review

Okay so the title for this post is obnoxiously long for what it actually is..... a porridge pot. As I have previously said these are my usual breakfasts as they are so convenient and generally pretty tasty and so I'm always up for trying a new flavour or brand. I have already reviewed the Super porridge 5 grans from Special K with almond, pecan & sunflower seeds and enjoyed the nutty flavour and chewy texture so I wanted to see how this fruitier version would compare. Like the other variety it just required hot water and I was good to go.

I don't think that I have ever had pomegranate in porridge before but it was quite interesting as the seeds added even more bite to the porridge. The texture is already quite thick due to the multiple grans and pumpkin seeds but I was still able to notice the extra pip. Flavour-wise, this was much sharper than most porridges because of the raspberry although the pomegranate added some sweetness. I was surprised at just how fruity this porridge was, yet it didn't taste artificial like many other flavoured porridges. I couldn't pick out any actual raspberry pieces but it was notably there in the flavour.

My personal preference is never going to favour porridges with added fruit but this version with raspberry and pomegranate wasn't half bad. It was much sharper than I expected due to the raspberry but the pomegranate flavour still manages to shine through. I haven't had porridge with these flavours before so it was nice to try something new. I would recommend this to anyone who likes their porridge with added flavour but don't mind the slightly sour taste of raspberry. It was far from smooth but I liked that I was able to chew through the oats and so overall I think Special K have done a pretty good job with this flavoured porridge pot.

Portlebay Crispy Bacon & Maple Syrup Popcorn review

It's always a real treat for me when I find a new and unusual flavour of popcorn so I grabbed this bag of crispy bacon and maple syrup popcorn as soon as I saw it. I have seen Portlebay popcorn around before but have never actually tried it so this seemed like a good place to start. I don't usually go for bacon flavoured snacks but the addition of the maple syrup flavour really tempted me as I generally like the combination of salty and sweet in popcorn.

I forgot to take a picture of inside the bag but it did just look like a typical bag of popcorn. I tasted it and the flavour was incredible. I wasn't expecting the maple syrup to be anywhere near as strong as it was and for me it was definitely the dominant flavour. The bacon added a smokiness that was more of an after taste and although it was certainly noticeable it wasn't overwhelming or artificial at all. I really enjoyed this bag of popcorn and I can't say that I have tasted a snack like it before. I now really want to get my hands on some of the other interesting flavoured popcorns that Portlebay produce and I'm already after another bag of these!

Peanut Butter Flavour Oreo review

I love peanut butter and I love Oreo's so I don't know why it has taken me so long to try these peanut butter flavoured Oreo's. I opened the packet and admit that they were the usual dark circular biscuits that you get with traditional Oreo's except these had a golden brown filling. The smell of peanut butter was surprisingly strong and I couldn't wait to get stuck in.

I took a bite and I was right about the intensity of the peanut butter flavour. These are definitely aimed at mega fans of peanut butter (which I am) as they are incredibly rich. The flavour is so strong that it is slightly artificial tasting but I wouldn't expect anything less from these type of American biscuits. The chocolatey biscuit is still as flavoursome as ever and with two such strong flavours in one biscuit I couldn't eat very many of these in one sitting.

Overall I was pretty impressed with these biscuits. They pack quite a punch in terms of both chocolate and peanut butter flavours and are really rich but then that isn't necessarily a bad thing when the result is this good. As I say I couldn't finish the whole packet of these like I probably could with other biscuits but I suppose that isn't a bad thing if your trying to manage your portion control.

Nestle Golden Nuggets review

Todays review is a bit of childhood nostalgia for me. Cereal is something I rarely ate as a child as my breakfast was normally pancakes or a muffin (nutritious I know!) however on the rare occasion I did decide to have cereal, golden nuggets were my go-to.

They are small balls with a similar crunchy texture to Nesquik. The main difference is that these have a sort of a honey flavour. They are very sweet and light and have a good crunch. After milk has been poured on, they kind of absourb the liquid and do become a little soft and the outer layer slightly soggy.

Despite the fact they do become quite soft I love the sweet honey flavour, possibly because it reminds me of my childhood. These made a lovely snack but I don't think they would satisfy me for very long if I had them for breakfast but for a child (who these are actually aimed at) I can imagine they would do the job nicely.

Tesco Smoked Salmon & Cucumber Sushi Taster review

I absolutely love sushi and what makes this even better is that it's a lot healthier than a lot of sandwiches or lunchtime alternatives. I saw these taster packs which are on offer in Tesco and are £2 for two packs. I chose the smoked salmon and cucumber version this time as a light snack when I was feeling slightly peckish.

These were filled with cream cheese which was surprisingly rich and tasty. The smoked salmon itself wasn't great quality and tasted quite dry but I didn't expect it to be incredible for the price I paid so I cant really complain. The rice was typical sushi rice, slightly sticky but still tasty and the seaweed was soft and flavoursome. This pack also came with a small packet of soy sauce. If I'm completely honest I did pop the cucumber out purely because I don't like it so cant comment on this but cucumber is cucumber right?

There are other varieties of these taster packs which I will review in future but this really satisfied me for a snack as a tasty alternative to the typical cereal bar or bag of crisps. I think having 2 snack packs for lunch would have satisfied me for a light lunch and although these are far from top quality I still really enjoyed them. I am certain that I will pick these up again in future especially if they stay on offer as for £2 you cant go wrong.

Ambrosia Devon Custard Rice review

Ambrosia is the only custard I ever buy purely because I think it is the best tasting option available. I also buy Ambrosia rice for the cupboard as a back up dessert for emergencies (because I generally don't find it as good as Muller rice). I don't think that this is a new product but I have never seen this custard rice before. I have tried the Muller custard rice and its probably my least favourite flavour but being as I usually enjoy Ambrosia's custard I thought it would be worth a try.

This comes in a larger pot than most of the flavoured Ambrosia rice's and when I lifted the lid I saw the thick creamy coloured rice pudding tat I have tasted many times before. I gave it a good stir and it revealed the thick yellow custard lying at the bottom beneath the layer of rice. I tasted it and was completely surprised at how much I enjoyed it. I much preferred this to the version by Muller and I can only put this down to the quality of the custard. It was incredibly creamy and thick and although the custard flavour was quite mild, it still contained the sweet vanilla flavour that you get from Ambrosia custard and it was certainly enough for me to be very impressed.

I will definitely be filling my cupboards with a few of these custard rice's as I think it may be my favourite flavour so far from Ambrosia. I can't honestly say that it is the best rice pudding that I have ever had and I still do prefer some of the varieties of Muller rice but then I am not the biggest fan of custard in general, however if you like your custard then I can recommend that you give these a try.

Zero Noodles Vegtable Curry Flavour review

Having recently ben impressed with Slim Fast Noodle boxes I decided to try this vegetable curry version from Zero Noodles. These came in a pot and required boiling water with the addition of two packets of flavourings contained in the pot. The whole pot is only 77 calories so I figured they were worth a try.

The consistency was very watery and the noodles didn't absorb the water as well as say a pot noodle but there was a strong curry flavour which carried through into the flavour. I was pleasantly surprised at how strong the curry taste was. At the bottom of the pot however the curry powder hadn't dissolved properly and I was left with a curry flavoured water which was very gritty from the powder but this was the only downside.

Overall for 77 calories these weren't half bad but the Slim fast microwavable noodle pots were of a much better quality in my opinion. I cant say that I would rush out to have these again purely because I was put off by the gritty texture at the bottom of the pot and how watery they were but they would do for a quick lunch if I was really hungry in future .

Kit Kat Toffee Treat review

Kit Kat is a staple in practically every British home but in all honesty its a snack that I find quite boring and so usually avoid. With all of the new varieties of Kit Kat on shelves recently I decided it was worth a try to pick up one if the newer flavours. I love toffee and caramac and so finally decided that if any of the newer versions were going to convert me, then this toffee treat version would be it.

The wrapper states that each serving contains only 108 calories so this could also e a good choice if your trying to find an alternative to your usual chocolate bar. I peeled back the infamous foil wrapper and saw that the Kit Kat had the usual milk chocolate bottom half but a toffee top half which did resemble caramac in appearance. It had the usual crisp, sweet wafer inside but I expected nothing less.

I bit in and couldn't really detect a strong toffee flavour but it was noticeably sweeter than the original version. The more of this Kit Kat I ate the more I enjoyed it and the smooth sweet toffee flavour became more prominent. I defiantly prefer the toffee treat version to the plain milk chocolate kit kat and think I may actually pick these up again. In fact, I am now tempted to try some of the other versions that are available so I think I have been won over by this treat.

Popchips Salt & Vinegar review

Salt and vinegar is not a flavour that I usually go for, probably because I'm not massively into the tang and burn that you get with vinegar in general. Today however I fancied a change and so picked up these salt and vinegar Popchips. These are potato chips that are not fried and so contain half of the fat. This bag only contained 95 calories.

There were not a massive amount in the bag but in all honesty there were a lot more than in most lower calorie bags of crisps. There was certainly a nice "crisp" texture to these crisps and I liked that they sort of dissolved on your tongue. The flavour itself was not as strong as most salt and vinegar crisps but still enough to get a strong hit of salt and vinegar meaning that I was actually impressed.

I am surprised at how much I enjoyed these and so what I initially thought would be a one off buy might actually make it into my bag again. These weren't overwhelmingly burn-y however provided a nice taste of vinegar. I liked the popped texture with little bubbles and there were a decent amount in the bag so I wasn't left hungry. For only 95 calories these Popchips were a great find.

Quaker Oat So Simple Multigrain Honey Pot review

After a manic weekend (so apologies for a lack of posts), I tried to get myself back into a routine so a nutritious breakfast seemed to be a good way to start. I have previously reviewed the original multigrain porridge pot by Quaker and it has since been a staple in my cupboard and one of my regular breakfasts on the go. This porridge has a creamy taste and a nice chew due to the different textures of all of the grains. I was excited to try this honey version which still contains the oats, rye and barley.

Like the original pot, only boiling water, a good stir and 2 minutes of waiting is required to produce this porridge. I waited patiently and lifted the lid and was met with a strong smell of honey. I took my first bite and the honey smell followed through into the flavour adding a level of sweetness. The creaminess was still there and the different textures from all of the grains that I enjoyed from the original variety still remained.

Similarly to the original variety, this honey version doesn't look great in pictures but in fact when you give it a good stir and see it in person it actually didn't look too bad (as porridge goes anyway). I really enjoyed this porridge and the addition of the honey made a nice change. I am not the type of person who usually goes for a sweet porridge so purely due to this I probably prefer the original version however I am pretty sure that I will pick this up again as a nice alternative and a convenient breakfast.

Kettle Bakes Crisps Sour Cream & Chive review

I picked up these kettle baked crisps a while a go, the same time as the sweet chilli version that I have previously reviewed. However having been disappointed in the sweet chilli version which I found incredibly bland I have put off trying these until now when the crisp cupboard was looking pretty bare.

I opened the bag and similarly to the other variety these crisps were very thin and light unlike most baked crisps which are generally quite crunchy. They had flecks of chive throughout but not much of a smell which made me think that these weren't going to pack much of a punch in terms of taste.

Luckily these did have more flavour than the sweet chilli variety and I quite enjoyed them. I can't say that I would go out of my way to buy these again because there still wasn't much of an impact in terms of sour cream & chive but it was much more noticeable than with the sweet chilli crisps. I am disappointed that there is such a lack of flavour with such a well established brand but I did definitely prefer this version to the sweet chilli and I admit that I would eat these again if they were put in front of me.

Costa Limited Edition Ham & Cheese Toastie review

As far as I am aware Costa have always had ham & cheese toasties and so I was slightly confused when I saw that they had a limited edition version. It is probably the most basic flavour and one that I rarely choose but upon closer inspection I saw that it had an extra layer of cheese on top as well as béchamel sauce in the middle.

When it was put in front of me I was pretty impressed. It had a thick layer of cheese that I couldn't wait to bite into. I cut through it and the béchamel sauce oozed out. This was rich and creamy and delicious especially against the ham. There wasn't a lot of meat in this sandwich but the flavours from the cheese and the large amount of béchamel made up for this completely in my opinion.

This is probably the nicest ham and cheese toastie that I have ever had and it tasted incredibly luxurious. I don't think that I have ever had béchamel sauce in this type of sandwich but it is such a brilliant idea. There was nothing boring about this toastie which is what I was worried about and I cant wait to have this again. I think it would be great if this replaced the ordinary ham & cheese toastie as I think that this would be a much more popular version and even if this isn't something that you would usually go for, it's certainly worth a try.

Veronica's Baked Veggie Crisps review

Vegetable crisps are probably my favourite and so I was excited to see this version that I have never seen before called Veronica's available at Tesco. These are tomato and paprika flavour which I found unusual since vegetable crisps don't usually have a flavour due to the strong taste of the vegetables themselves.

These crisps claim to have 60% less fat than regular crisps since they are baked and they are also gluten free. I opened the bag and there were very few crisps inside but this does explain why they are only 96 calories. The crisps inside however were rather large and were not I was expecting. They were thick and crinkle cut and looked like regular baked crisps rather than the multi-colour thin vegetable crisps that I am used to. They were a dark red colour from the paprika and tomato seasoning and there was a strong barbeque smell.

I bit through the first crisp and as I would never have known that these were made of vegetables rather than ordinary potato. They tasted mainly of paprika with a tomato aftertaste. They were very crunchy and I couldn't feel any grease on them like you get with ordinary crisps.

I did enjoy these crisps but they were nothing like traditional vegetable crisps so if that is what you are after then you will probably be disappointed. The flavour was exactly as described and I could taste both the tomato and paprika flavours. I wouldn't mind having these crisps again but I would have them when I fancied a more barbeque flavoured baked crisp than thin and sweet vegetable crisps which I have to admit are still my go-to.

Chokablok American Dreamcake Titchy Easter Egg review

Easter is only next weekend so I decided that it was close enough to crack open my first Easter egg. Chokablok is a range of chocolate that I have only ever seen available at Tesco. I decided to try the American Dreamcake Egg which is a white chocolate egg with white chocolate coated biscuits, brownie chunks, chocolate fudge pieces and chocolate chunks. This was the titchy version so it was only 95grams which meant that I didn't feel any guilt in demolishing it in one sitting.

The chocolate smelt very sweet and I could see that there were plenty of biscuit pieces and chocolate chunks throughout. There was a small circle where the fillings were exposed which was surrounded by dark chocolate. I broke the egg and it revealed that the chocolate was very thick especially under the dark chocolate.

It tasted delicious but you would certainly need a very sweet tooth (like myself) to eat a lot of it. The dark chocolate area and chunks throughout did make this a lot easier to eat however as I really appreciated the sharpness against the rich white chocolate. The crunchy biscuit and chewy fudge pieces throughout stood out against the smooth texture and it felt like a real treat getting all of this in one egg, especially one so small!

I can highly recommend this Easter egg and am really impressed with the quality of this chocolate. The fact that this egg is available in a variety of sizes means that you have the option to really indulge or be (a little bit) sensible. I feel the need to try the rest of the Chokablok range after tasting this egg so would suggest anyone tempted by this product grab it while it's available.

Caffe Nero UK Carrot & Raison Cake review

Carrot cake is without a doubt one of my favourite cakes. I love the cream cheese frosting against the rich flavours of the dense sponge. My go-to for carrot cake is always Costa but I decided to go out on a limb and try this take on carrot cake from Caffe Nero. As the name states it contains a fair amount of raisons and comes in a loaf form with a thin layer of frosting on top.

There weren't any nuts throughout this cake like there are in many carrot cakes and the sponge was much lighter than most. The cake was quite small but maintained the spicy taste that you expect from carrot cake. The cream cheese frosting was very firm but still tasted deliciously buttery. It was almost yogurt-y and not as rich as I am used to but it did make it a lot easier to eat and seemed less filling. I did enjoy this cake an would have it again but it seemed like a slight alternative to carrot cake and doesn't compare to the heavy, fruity and luxurious carrot cakes you can get in most cafe's. I can imagine that this cake would be good for anyone who finds most carrot cakes too rich but still enjoy the slight spicy flavours against the sweet and creamy frosting.

Special K Super Porridge 5 grains (Almond, Pecan & Sunflower Seeds) review

I do love my porridge in the morning and porridge pots just make life so much easier when I'm in a rush or need a breakfast that I can grab on the go. This Special K super porridge is a relatively new product that contains vitamins, minerals and 5 grains. I tried the version that contains almond, pecan and sunflower seeds.

As these pots only require boiling water I popped the kettle on, filled the porridge pot to the dotted line and gave it a good stir. I waited a few minutes then took off the lid. I could see that it contained plenty of nuts and seeds and it looked quite thick and creamy.

I took a bite and could certainly taste the nutty element of this porridge. There was quite a bit of chewing for this due to all of the seeds and because the oats were rather large. It wasn't very sweet but I didn't mind this as the flavour of the nuts and the creaminess was enough to satisfy me. I was pretty impressed with these porridge pots from special k and would happily buy this again. I am very tempted to try the other varieties from the super porridge range as this was a tasty, filling and nutritious breakfast.

Propercorn Smooth Penut & Almond review.

Having previously enjoyed the other varieties from the Propercorn range, I was really excited to see this peanut and almond version. I have only ever seen this is large bags but recently it has been appearing on shelves in the individual sized bags so they are handy to grab on the go.

The main reason that I have been so impressed with the Propercorn range is because they seem to have a better crunch than most store bought popcorns which often taste quite chewy and this flavour was no different. Although not as crispy as the more savoury versions that I have tried, the popcorn maintained a fair crunch and there were no un-popped kernels like you can often nearly break your teeth on at the bottom of the bag.

The popcorn had a lovely looking brown coating and there was a good salty, peanut-ty taste. It certainly tasted "smooth" as the name suggests in that it reminded me a little of peanut butter with a slight sweetness. Although I couldn't really detect much almond flavour I cant honestly say that I missed it too much because the salty peanut butter flavour was delicious enough. This was another very impressive product from the Propercorn range and I can highly recommend it to any peanut butter lovers.

Magnum Pistachio Ice Cream review

I have only ever had pistachio ice cream a couple of times and really enjoyed it, however it is not a flavour that I see around too much and so I don't think I have had it in years. The Magnum range of ice creams are known for being high quality and so I trusted them to remind me why I enjoyed pistachio flavoured ice cream on the few times that I have experienced it.

The outer chocolate layer had its usual thick coverage and a great "crack" when taking that initial bite. It was filled with pistachios which added  a nice crunch to the texture but the nutty flavour itself was quite mild. The chocolate wasn't very sweet but Magnum's milk chocolate never is as it lets the flavour of the ice cream shine through.

Breaking through the chocolate revealed the pale green coloured ice cream. There was a slight nutty smell but nothing hit me. I tasted it and really enjoyed it. It was very creamy and tasted quite luxurious but the pistachio flavour itself was very subtle. I would have preferred this ice cream if there was a stronger nutty taste to the ice cream but I still finished it off quite happily. I continue to be impressed with Magnums range of ice creams but for those hard-core pistachio fans, you will probably find this a little disappointing if you are looking for a rich pistachio

Slim Fast Chicken Tikka Massala Slim-Taki Noodles review

I have recently seen that slim fast have added three new boxed noodles to their range and they all state that contain under 100 calories. Even though I am not dieting, I was really interested to see what they would be like as it all sounded too good to be true so I picked up the chicken tikka version for a pricey £3.29 per box and popped the tub into the microwave for 2 minutes.

This version contained 81 calories and is made from slim-taki noodles which the box states satisfy your hunger and are made from glucomannan which apparently contributes to weight loss. There is also a warning to drink plenty of water before meals as there is a risk of choking especially for those with swallowing difficulties! This worried me slightly as it is a pretty unusual warning to have on a box of noodles!

When cooked there was a strong tikka smell and a thick brown sauce. It was actually pretty tasty and didn't taste low calorie at all. The slim-taki noodles however are noticeably different to any regular variety and I understood the warning. They have almost a rubbery texture and took quite a bit of chewing. I know this sounds awful but once I was used to it they weren't too bad. The noodles also seemed to retain their heat for a lot longer than most noodles, I'm not sure why this is but they stayed hot for ages. Overall I still can't believe that this meal was only 81 calories because for that few, its pretty amazing. I can't honesty say that these slim-taki noodles are as good as traditional ones but for anyone looking to loose a couple of pounds, Slim Fast are really helping you out with this surprisingly filling and tasty lunch on the go,

Caffe Nero UK Caramel Shortcake review

Caramel shortcake or millionaire's shortbread as many people call it is loved by pretty much everyone and I am no exception. The fact that it is usually very rich makes it feel quite indulgent and naughty. Despite this I haven't tried Caffe Nero's version before purely because it looks so much thinner than versions from other cafes but I decided that it was finally time to see how it would compare.

I arrived at the CafĂ© quite early and so the staff were literally bringing this straight from storage to the counter. I am assuming that this was kept in some sort of fridge as it was really cold. I am the type of person who likes to keep my chocolate in the fridge so for me this was perfect! The layer of chocolate was much thicker than I was expecting and had a lovely crack when I bit through. Although not very sweet itself, the flavour was of a decent quality and I was glad that it wasn't any sweeter because this was compensated for by the caramel layer. This was smooth, delicious and teeth rotting-ly sweet as caramel should be. I actually ended up liking the fact that this tray bake wasn't as thick as other coffee chains as it meant the caramel and chocolate didn't take a backseat to the shortbread which was also really enjoyable. It had a good bite and sweetness and was much more of a biscuit texture than cake which I often find with the thicker versions of these snacks. I am surprised to say that this is one of the best caramel shortcakes that I have had in a while. It was rich and buttery without being too sickly and I am already looking forward to having this again.

Velet Crunch mature Cheddar & Onion review

Always one willing to try a healthier alternative to crisps, I bought a packet cheddar and onion velvet crunch to go along with my lunch. I have seen and tried the chilli and sweet basil version many times and really enjoy them so I was curious to see how these would compare.

These are a tapioca snack and contain only 86 calories per bag so I could definitely understand the appeal for anyone trying to watch their weight. They also claim to have 60% less fat than standard crisps so could also be a good alternative for those just looking to lead a healthier lifestyle.

These snacks are circular disc shaped and certainly live up to their name in terms of texture and they have a good crunch when biting through them. I also found them surprisingly moreish and quite liked how they kind of melt on your tongue. Unfortunately the flavour disappointed me, actually it was more the lack if it! It was clear that these snacks were meant to have a cheese and onion type flavour but it was so mild I found them really bland however there was quite a strong aftertaste that I wasn't too keen on. These weren't awful but I cant say that I would choose to have them again. I much prefer the chilli and basil variety and would recommend them over this flavour as there is a much stronger flavour that I personally find much more enjoyable.

Tesco Finest Raspberry & Pistachio Cheesecake Slices review

I have had my eye on these cheesecake slices from Tesco for a little while but every time I have tried to buy them they have been sold out. I eventually found them when I wasn't even looking but it seemed rude to walk past to I ended up putting them in my basket.

There were clearly plenty of chunks of raspberry throughout both slices and a fait covering of crushed pistachios. The description of these cheesecakes described an orange blossom glaze. I wasn't sure what to make of this but it was probably my favourite part of these cheesecakes which were delicious! The glaze didn't have a lot of flavour but sat on top of the slices like a jelly adding an extra layer of texture as well as a slight more sweetness.

The raspberry pieces were quite small which I didn't mind as this meant that I didn't notice any seeds but as there were so many the slightly sharp raspberry flavour was still noticeable and worked really nicely against the sweet orange blossom glaze. The pistachios also added to the texture with a slight crunch and their flavour complimented the creamy vanilla cheesecake filling which tasted quite high quality. The base was lovely and thick but not so much that it was more noticeable than the filing. It also broke perfectly without being dry and crumbly. These were some of the best quality supermarket cheesecakes that I have bought in a while and I can certainly see why they are a part of Tesco's "finest" range.

Subway White Chocolate & Raspberry Cheesecake Cookie review

Standing at the counter at Subway and this little beauty caught my eye. White chocolate and raspberry cheesecake cookie, sounds amazing right?! I had to buy it and couldn't wait to give it a go, especially as I have always loved subway's cookies. They have an amazing reputation for being thick and chewy with a crunchy outer layer and delicious sweet flavour.

This cookie however didn't seem to have much bite to it and felt very soft. Despite this, I bit into it expecting to be wowed. I'm sorry to say that I was really dissapointeed. I don't know of this was just a bad batch or if Subway's cookies are just not as good as they used to be but this was very cake-y. There was no crunch when I bit in and even the flavour was disappointing. It tasted fine but not as sweet as I remembered and slightly bland. I wont be rushing to pick up another one of these cookies again but am seriously hoping that I just got a bad batch and that if I do have another cookie in future, that it is up to the Subway standard that I have always loved.

Boots Shapers Sweet Chilli Chicken Sushi Rice Salad review

I absolutely love sushi and sushi rice salads are becoming increasingly popular and available from more supermarkets. These are basically the ingredients of sushi minus the seaweed unrolled in a small dish. I have previously reviewed the prawn and smoked salmon version from boots and thoroughly enjoyed it so was excited to see this new sweet chilli addition to the range.

I was hesitant to buy this version as it clearly contains a lot of red and yellow peppers which generally I don't really like but my curiosity got the better of me and I did pick it up. It only contained 183 calories so the portion was quite small but as you get a snack with the boots meal deal this wasn't much of an issue for me personally.

There seemed to be much less chicken in this meal then there are prawns and smoked salmon in the other version however what meat was there had a thick sweet chilli coating that was really tasty. The meat itself was moist and I liked the sesame seeds sprinkled on top. My worry of the amount of peppers in this dish was not needed as although it clearly contained more than the other version, there wasn't a much stronger taste to them. The rice was soft and there were small pieces of cucumber and edamame beans throughout. There was plenty of flavour to this sushi and I was yet again really impressed with Boots shapers range. I will certainly pick this up again as an alternative to the prawn and smoked salmon version.

McDonalds UK Sugar Donut review

Having recently been impressed with both Krispy Kreme's and Greggs range of donuts, I decided that I needed to compare this offering from McDonalds when I was passing the counter. This was a ring shaped donut with a coating of sugar and the bag that it came in had the date and time that it was baked on so I knew that it was fresh.

I took it out if the bag and was impressed with the look and texture. There was a fair coating of sugar crystals and when I pressed into it there was an appropriate amount of "squidginess" that made me think that this was going to be soft and moist.

I took my first bite and hate to admit that I was actually quite disappointed. It wasn't unpleasant in the slightest and the flavour was sweet and I could detect some vanilla its just that this had much more of a cake texture than a donut. Not that cake is a bad thing by any stretch of the imagination, it's just that I was expecting a squidgy donut with a slightly "crispy" outer layer, whereas this just tasted like a pretty decent sugar coated cake. Once I was used to the texture I enjoyed it a bit more and it would be fine if you wanted something sweet ion the go but in my honest opinion, this just doesn't compare to some of the other donuts on the market.
