I recently discovered how much I love coffee cake and so was desperate to try this cappuccino cake from Caffe Nero. Described as three layers of moist coffee sponge infused with Caffe Nero's blend of coffee with coffee icing and dusted with cocoa it sounded right up my street. There were quite thick layers of sponge and thin layers of coffee icing and filling so I was worried it might be a little dry however this turned out not to be a problem in the slightest as there were so many layers of filling.
The sponge and overall cake was actually very light and moist. The flavour was sweet and the coffee flavour was spot on. There was a noticeable hit of coffee that was not overwhelming so the overall flavour was still lovely and sweet. The cocoa dusting on top was a small touch that made this cake even better. The sweet icing and filling against the soft coffee sponge made for an afternoon treat that I thoroughly enjoyed and this is definitely one to try for any coffee lovers out there.
