I absolutely love sushi and sushi rice salads are becoming increasingly popular and available from more supermarkets. These are basically the ingredients of sushi minus the seaweed unrolled in a small dish. I have previously reviewed the prawn and smoked salmon version from boots and thoroughly enjoyed it so was excited to see this new sweet chilli addition to the range.
I was hesitant to buy this version as it clearly contains a lot of red and yellow peppers which generally I don't really like but my curiosity got the better of me and I did pick it up. It only contained 183 calories so the portion was quite small but as you get a snack with the boots meal deal this wasn't much of an issue for me personally.
There seemed to be much less chicken in this meal then there are prawns and smoked salmon in the other version however what meat was there had a thick sweet chilli coating that was really tasty. The meat itself was moist and I liked the sesame seeds sprinkled on top. My worry of the amount of peppers in this dish was not needed as although it clearly contained more than the other version, there wasn't a much stronger taste to them. The rice was soft and there were small pieces of cucumber and edamame beans throughout. There was plenty of flavour to this sushi and I was yet again really impressed with Boots shapers range. I will certainly pick this up again as an alternative to the prawn and smoked salmon version.
