Veronica's Baked Veggie Crisps review

Vegetable crisps are probably my favourite and so I was excited to see this version that I have never seen before called Veronica's available at Tesco. These are tomato and paprika flavour which I found unusual since vegetable crisps don't usually have a flavour due to the strong taste of the vegetables themselves.

These crisps claim to have 60% less fat than regular crisps since they are baked and they are also gluten free. I opened the bag and there were very few crisps inside but this does explain why they are only 96 calories. The crisps inside however were rather large and were not I was expecting. They were thick and crinkle cut and looked like regular baked crisps rather than the multi-colour thin vegetable crisps that I am used to. They were a dark red colour from the paprika and tomato seasoning and there was a strong barbeque smell.

I bit through the first crisp and as I would never have known that these were made of vegetables rather than ordinary potato. They tasted mainly of paprika with a tomato aftertaste. They were very crunchy and I couldn't feel any grease on them like you get with ordinary crisps.

I did enjoy these crisps but they were nothing like traditional vegetable crisps so if that is what you are after then you will probably be disappointed. The flavour was exactly as described and I could taste both the tomato and paprika flavours. I wouldn't mind having these crisps again but I would have them when I fancied a more barbeque flavoured baked crisp than thin and sweet vegetable crisps which I have to admit are still my go-to.
